Digital technology vendors have always benefited from technical complexity, which they willingly maintain. This helps them to sell more, and more expensively, but also to keep their customers in a dependent relationship. Will the digital transformation that is being imposed on all of them be an opportunity to increase their dominance over their customers and capture more value? Will artificial intelligence dealing with massive data taken from their rightful owners be an opportunity to increase dependency?
