In 1922, Armor invented carbon paper, and over the century went on to produce all kinds of printing inks and consumables, right up to inkjet cartridges and barcode printing ribbons. The French company seemed to be at the end of its tether when, in 2004, Hubert de Boisredon was recruited as Managing Director, after an international career that included a stint at Rhodia. The company was quickly turned around and sold to a Lyon-based fund in 2008. In 2014, the management team acquired a majority stake in the company, involving also 500 employees. In 2022, the company acquired the historic American competitor, and the management team controlled 100% of the capital after buying out the shares held by the investment funds. World leader in its sector, Armor Group generates sales of €450 million, 90% of which is exported, and employs 2,500 people, including 800 in France. Now, the time has come for the Group to diversify into renewable energies: its know-how can do wonders to create flexible solar films, current collectors that improve battery capacity, and so on. A new adventure is about to begin!
