According to François-Xavier de Fournas, a banker’s life is made impossible for a number of reasons. These include deregulation which erodes profit margins ; soaring interest rates ; never-ending crises ; information technologies which disrupt traditional working methods ; and confusion between the role of the State and the bank which distorts competition. In this intimidating environment, the BRED was renovated by " reactive management " methods. Is this the road to take to become a banker of tomorrow ?
