Demands for flexibility imposed on companies by markets have transformed employment relations. Collective labour agreements, or traditional negotiations within companies, no longer determine the nature of short-term jobs efficiently and as a result, there is a need to overhaul the labour laws. Jean-Daniel Reynaud and Marie-Laure Morin outline the changes taking place by showing which rules, participants and type of negotiations should replace the former methods of regulation. The emerging solutions are in a ‘wish list’ state.
