Having analysed in depth the way in which information was circulated in two very different companies, Béatrice Vacher shows that what really happens in this field may be very far from what is generally held to be the case. Behind organisations where in theory information circulates under the control of a central regulator, one finds "information warehousemen" whose obscure and despised tasks are in fact the real way in which information is circulates in the company.
