Will digital technology help to revolutionise preventive healthcare? The VYV Group, France’s leading health insurance company and the number one national provider of treatment, care and support (as a result of the merger of the mutual insurers MGEN, Harmonie and Istya) certainly thinks so. Its preventive Vivoptim programme demonstrates that digital technology, far from being dehumanised, may provide efficient and personalised support to patients suffering from chronic disease or patients who are at risk from cardiovascular disease. Furthermore – and this may be an additional development – the programme demonstrates, backed up by figures to support this, that this attempt at prevention has an effect on the control of health expenditure. All of society will benefit from this. Is a mutualist approach to digital technology therefore possible?
