Large companies dream of developing new activities while continuing to operate in their traditional businesses. To achieve this, they invest in start-ups, launch intrapreneurship programmes and open innovation schemes. However, getting such diverse profiles, cultures and organisations to work together is often a challenge. Laurent Darmon is a banker by training and an enthusiast for digital technologies. He is a rare example of a person who is equally at ease in the world of big business and that of start-ups. With eight companies already launched, including several scale-ups, La Fabrique by CA, which has grown from 5 to 330 employees in just five years, is a success story. Its business model, which mobilises employee entrepreneurs who have no interest in the capital and favours innovations that are at the margins of the Group's businesses but are nevertheless in line with its strategy, is particularly original.
