In view of the fact that we live at a time when there are many social changes and when there is a great deal of uncertainty concerning the future, Michel Godet explains that it is necessary to have a method of predicting the future to prepare for any eventuality. Having explained his method, which has been applied to a number of organisations, he suggests that it is complementary to more traditional strategies. It is necessary to integrate his method with other management methods. He does not suggest that he is able to predict the future, but this "Pope" of the 'prospective' method recognises the limitations of such an approach and that the method's value is essentially of an investigative nature.
