For some years, the French Post Office has been undergoing a huge transformation in response to the social realities of our times and new economic constraints. The management of its four activities - a postal service, a parcel service, a bank and a network - has been divided up and each one has been totally reorganised on an operational level. The regional impacts have been considerable. Sorting offices have been relocated, post offices have been changed and new ones have been opened, and conditions for handling the mail have been modified. Relations with local inhabitants and their elected representatives have been turned upside down. However, thanks to a clear strategy and the skill to find local, appropriate solutions, the Post Office is learning to ensure its competitiveness on a European scale.
