An engineer from ENSTA with a major in marine engineering, he has been managing the DEF Network for 41 years. Founded in 1958, the DEF Network specialises in fire safety systems, which it manufactures, installs and maintains in France and abroad through its expert companies. Philippe Lécuyer was very involved in the Centre des jeunes dirigeants (Young Leaders' Centre) from the beginning, and was president of GESI (French professional union for fire detection) in 2000 and vice-president in 2004; manager of the year, fire safety category, in 2008; vice-president of the Fire section of EURALARM (European fire safety union) from 2012 to 2018; president of the Essonne CCI's Youth Commission in 2017; and a member of the Faculté des Métiers de l'Essonne (Essonne Trade School) from 2017 to 2020. He has been vice-president of the Massy rugby club since 2015, a sponsor since 2008 and a member of the ETI Île-de-France club since 2014. He was appointed to the rank of Knight in the National Order of Merit in 2022.
