‘Beyond : Two Souls’, Quantic Dream’s latest video game, was presented at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival and had its première at Paris’ Grand Rex cinema in the presence of its actors. This video game marks yet another step towards interactive films, or, according to the wishes of its writer David Cage, towards adult video games. This transition took three years of development in order to adapt the studio to the production of games based on specific mechanics and with a strong narrative structure. Paradoxically, this was transformed into the establishment of an industrial organisation built on very structured processes, optimised productivity, extensive and thoughtful use of sub-contractors, and the creation of tools to automate all functions which could be automated. Currently, the studio has an unrivalled production capacity which means that it can meet the needs of its artistic imagination at a reasonable price. It can also envisage using its capacity to further other sorts of projects.
