Since the 1990s, there has been a fashion for facilities management. Recently, however, the phenomenon of backsourcing information systems is starting to appear in the English-speaking world. Will it soon arrive in France ? Using a mixture of common sense and irreverence, Christophe Deshayes, the president of Documental, makes observations which question a number of assertions which had been recently made regarding outsourcing strategies. Using the same arguments for outsourcing as for backsourcing raises questions about the wisdom of this practice. Technical and economic motivations appear to be less relevant than social aspects or company governance. Whereas once the French were considered to be slow and awkward, they now appear to be more efficient than others.
