At a time when more and more people are criticising financial capitalism and its model of governance because they consider it to be wicked, biased and the cause of much suffering, the sector of the social and solidarity-oriented economy is quietly booming. Alternative models incorporating economic efficiency and social performance are establishing themselves. These models exist in various legal forms and in more and more diverse sectors of activity. These alternative work methods, which until recently were rare and considered anecdotal, are now becoming established, are promoting their know-how and are beginning to interest ordinary businesses which are looking for support by suggesting the integration of sectors which, until recently, was thought to be unimaginable.
